It was founded in 1984 as Shanmugha College of Engineering. NAAC has accredited SASTRA with an ‘A+’ grade, and the Institution of Engineers (India) has additionally certified all the BTech programs offered by the college. In 1987, Dr. Jeppiar founded the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. Before this, it was known as Sathyabama Engineering College. It offers numerous courses like Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, and Communication Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.
